Dark spots on the face are one of the most common skincare concerns. The good news is that with the right actives, consistency and daily sun protection, you can reduce their appearance and enjoy a more even, radiant skin tone. Here is what each active brings and how to get the most out of your dark spot cream.

Why dark spots appear

Melanin is the pigment that gives skin its colour. When it builds up in specific areas, a spot appears. The most common reasons are:

  • The sun, accumulated over the years. This is the main one.
  • Time, which makes spots on the face, chest and hands more visible.
  • Hormonal changes, for example during pregnancy.
  • Marks left by irritation, which can darken an area for weeks.

If a spot changes shape, colour or size, show it to your dermatologist.

The actives that even out skin tone

Kojic acid

One of the best-known actives for reducing the look of dark spots. You will find it in our Dark Spot Cream.

Tranexamic acid

It has become a skincare favourite for larger, more stubborn spots. It helps achieve a more even tone.

Vitamin C

It adds radiance, helps even out skin tone and has an antioxidant effect. You will find it in the cream.

Niacinamide (vitamin B3)

It improves the look of skin tone and texture, and most skin types tolerate it well.

The cream also contains coenzyme Q10, with an antioxidant effect.

Your dark spot cream

Dark Spot Cream: your everyday ally. It helps lighten the look of dark spots, evens out skin tone and adds radiance while nourishing and moisturising. It fits into any routine, morning or evening.

Sunscreen, your best ally

For your dark spot routine to show its full effect, protect your skin every morning with a broad-spectrum, high-factor sunscreen. Apply it generously and reapply every two hours when you are out in the sun. Add sunglasses, a hat and shade in the middle of the day, all year round.

Your routine for a more even tone

  • In the morning: gentle cleansing, Dark Spot Cream and, as the last step, sunscreen.
  • In the evening: cleanse and apply the Dark Spot Cream to your face and neck with a gentle massage until absorbed.

Would you rather have a ready-made routine with our products? You will find it on our dark spots page. And if you also use retinol or exfoliants, alternate them with your dark spot products on different nights. We explain how in our guide on how to start using retinol.

When you will see results

Dark spots form little by little, and skin tone evens out little by little too: with weeks of consistent use, your skin looks more even and radiant. Consistency and daily sunscreen are the combination that makes the difference.

Tips to boost your results

  • Sunscreen all year round, cloudy days included.
  • Be gentle with your skin: no rubbing or over-exfoliating.
  • One new active at a time: so your skin can enjoy them all.
  • Consistency: the same routine, day after day.

Frequently asked questions

How can I reduce the look of dark spots on my face?

With a dark spot cream containing actives such as kojic acid and vitamin C, applied every day, and high-factor sunscreen every morning. With consistency, your tone looks more and more even and radiant.

Can I use dark spot products in summer?

Yes, with high-factor sunscreen every morning, reapplied every two hours when you are out in the sun. Summer is when protection counts most.

Can I combine the dark spot cream with retinol?

Yes, at different times: for example, the dark spot cream in the morning, with sunscreen on top, and retinol on some nights. Introduce actives one at a time.

When is the best time to apply the dark spot cream?

Whenever it fits best into your routine: in the evening, or in the morning with sunscreen on top. Apply it to your face and neck with a gentle massage until absorbed.

Niacinamide or vitamin C: which is better for dark spots?

They do not compete: vitamin C adds radiance, helps even out skin tone and has an antioxidant effect, while niacinamide improves the look of skin tone and texture. Choose according to what you are looking for. Our Dark Spot Cream contains vitamin C, together with kojic acid and coenzyme Q10, but not niacinamide.

Kojic acid or tranexamic acid?

Both are used in skincare to even out skin tone: kojic acid is one of the best-known actives for reducing the look of dark spots, and tranexamic acid has become popular for larger spots. Our Dark Spot Cream contains kojic acid, vitamin C and coenzyme Q10; it does not contain tranexamic acid.
